About My ArchaeoPhotography
DynaPloutos ArchaeoPhotography is the creative expansion of my progressively cultivated work in the field of archaeological photography, and part of my services I provide in archaeological imaging, recording and documenting.
I started capturing visuals of the skies and landscapes during the early years of my undergraduate degree, using a SLR camera. While studying Classical Archaeology at University of Oxford, dazzled by the beauty of ancient artefacts, my passion in colours and photography led me to advance my skills in producing archaeological images, academically descriptive and visually aesthetic at the same time.
Acquiring skills in academic and scientific digital recording, documentation, archiving and publication in cultural heritages, I focus on the visual precision and true colours combined with my aesthetic approach and style. I specialise in digitising monuments, elemental aspects of façades and structures, monuments, buildings, epigraphic materials, reliefs, artefacts, objects and archaeological contexts through aesthetically captured descriptive photographic images.
What I Do As An ArchaeoPhotographer
I provide hi-res photographic services for coins, small finds, large artefacts, inscriptions, reliefs, archaeological field research and contexts, for conservation and restoration purposes, museums as well as private collections. For my work in archaeology, digital recording and documentation, I only use Nikon D Series cameras and Nikon Lenses, to capture the true colours of objects with the best exposure.
My principal workflow is based on producing images with proper lighting to attain the best clarity and most accurate true colour range, without the necessity of improvements, editing and/or digital enhancements.
On a philosophical level, I believe observing any element of the material culture closely, allows the human intellect to acquire a free ticket to contemplation, and if one may collect enough tickets in the metaphysical realm. Combining observation and contemplation, eventually leads to a more coherent perception of one's purpose in life.
On an artistic level, anything non-visible to naked eye, must be adequately exposed, yet within exquisitely appeasing aesthetic norms. What lies within , is aesthetically descriptive enough for each instance of comprehension.
What I Do As An Archaeologist
My objective lies in continuously adapting to a fast changing and evolving landscape in arts & humanities, academic and scientific progress, conservation of cultural heritages, to perform detail-oriented, timely solutions towards consistent academic goals, with technical knowledge and scientific passion.
My academic interest lies in the art, archaeology, philosophy, metaphysics, knowledge and science of the ancient world and its transmission, encompassing spaces and contexts on a parallel axis from the West to Far East, particularly focusing on ancient Etruria, Greece, Egypt and China.
Equipped with digital tools, skills in research data entry and data management, documentation, archiving, I also excel in desk-based assessment, archaeological writing and strategic planning of cultural heritages as well as project management and coordination.
Applying effective, innovative, methodological approaches, using analytical & computational research tools in a performance-based measurable output, I strongly regard it is the key to successful, systematic, quantifiable, consistent long-term scientific results for academic projects ushering in a new digital era, which arrived sooner than expected.
To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.
